On the flight from New York To Portland |
With today being my last day, we quickly had breakfast, and decided to go for another stroll in the city.I put on my new knee high boots(first time wearing boots), wore my jacket, and of course I had to wear gloves and as I looked into the mirror, I liked what I saw. I could pass for any real New Yorker. I told my self that no one would guess I just got into the country only a day ago.
First we headed down to the souvenirs stores. You know those stores that sell 'I heart New York' stuff, I wanted to get at least a T shirt, a cap, anything actually and I ended up getting a Mug. We then moved on to
Where I come from, on a Sunday all you see are people in church attires, either in cars or waiting for taxies to convey them to church. But definitely not NY,I saw all kinds of people on the streets, from beggars with interesting placards,
So it was almost 1 00pm,and since my flight was only a few hours away, we decided to quickly grab lunch, and Hubby being the Indian food lover that he is, asked that we go try out Indian Cuisine. I wasn't too excited though, because I had been served Indian food all the way on the flight from Dubai to New York. I wanted to try something different, like pizza(lol) but hubby really didn't want to have that for Lunch. So Indian food it was.
With the help of yelp(an app that helps you find businesses nearby), we located an Indian restaurant. I had my first Accent barrier from that Indian Restaurant. My husband handled the ordering of the food since I wasn't too familiar with Indian Cuisine, however when the waiter asked me what I wanted to drink, and I said "coke with lime", it seemed like he could not understand me, so he made me repeat my words twice. Little did I know that this was going to happen to me regularly as I began me new life in America
Hahahahahahaha @ "Tourists with their cameras ready to SNAP"...haven't heard SNAP in a while. I love it. That's how we say it back home but here in US, they say TAKE PICTURES...On going battle between American English & British English. Welcome to my struggle chic!

The plane was full of asians and one lady sitting in front of us turned around and asked to take my daughter's picture. I thought it weird and said no ( cos the naija in me thought picture + stranger= jazz things) but my hubby laughed and said its ok. Its prolly her hair with all the barrettes they like. So now I know.
