As is obvious, I just started blogging, and I know that sooner or later I would have to make some decisions as to the direction I want my blog to go.
From the blog description, I only want to write about my real life experiences and views as I start a new phase of my life in the US and I would want to get as personal as I can be. Now this is the dilemma I face, should I get very personal on my blog and yet do not reveal my identity,Or do I reveal my identity and keep my posts on a less personal level. Another option would be to damn the consequences and reveal my identity as well as my personal life.
I know it would get to a point where I have to chose either of these options. Each one comes with its pros and cons. For one, connecting to my audience is very important to me, and sharing my personal experiences will enable me connect with my blog readers on a very deep level. After all the main aim of opening this blog was to share my stories because I know someone, somewhere out there will relate with some of the things I go through. However if I want to get this deep, would it not have some negative consequences if I reveal my identity as well? It would be like being an open book for the whole world to read and make judgments
Alternatively revealing my identity or the face behind the computer would also give some sort of persona to this blog. It would not seem like some robot behind the computer typing away words. Revealing my identity would definitely add more personality to my blog, and it would give readers more insight into who I am, why I do certain things etc. The only bad side to this would be revealing my identity would mean I can not get as deep as I would want to with my posts, and would definitely have to keep some things on just a surface level.
The last option would be to throw all caution to the wind, and reveal my identity as well going in personal with my posts. I am known to be a care free person but growing up into adulthood, I have leant to weigh my decisions as every action has consequences.
So blog readers what do you think?, what is more important to you when you read blogs?, what do you expect to get from blog authors?, what decision would you take if you were in my position?. Kindly share you views

ReplyDeleteI think its best if u dont reveal ur identity. People still fall in love with novels that are based on true life events without knowing the real people. Even though you may be the "i dont care" type, you never kno what tomorrow will bring so for you to freely give us all the juicy stuff, i will advise u dont reveal your identity. People are loving your stories already without knowing you. If you are reading a story and its interesting, you naturally put yourself in those shoes, so dear i dont think its necessary. We love what we are reading so far and i love that you took this step to brighten up peoples faces. 😊
I was smiling throughout your comment. Thanks for taking time out to read and comment
DeleteHmmmm.. Well, we all know dis aint no novel and we're getting these stories firsthand from the writer, so at some point u're gonna have to get personal, at least to an extent. The first thing I checked on ur blog was the picture, and I'm kinda sad that's not you! Thought it was.. Anyways, don't reveal too much, just the basics, for curious ones like us..♠..â„“oâ„“..♠.. All the best!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely concur with Rabbie dear. Say it all, the whole truthand nothing byt the truth! Lol! But pleaaaaase, do not reveal your identity. Lamie
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Rabbie;Personally,I think not revealing ur identity makes this blog a lot edgier and really cool.
ReplyDeleteplease dont kill the suspense part of it all by revealing ur identity.its more interesting when u can only imagine what the cast or character is like. also, there wont be a way you wont have to edit once ur identity is known and all we want is the total package. today is my first time on ur blog and i am loving it already, dont spoil the fun plsssssssssss.
ReplyDeleteyes sweetness, i agree with all previous fellow 'commentors'....reading thru all your stories, already give us a perception aba the persona behind the scene...don't kill the flame my dear...we say curiousity killed the cat and not the cat doing the killing...kill us with more stories...
ReplyDeleteand by the way, I must commend you on your writing....i love your tone in all the pieces...u seem like a very nice person....well done madam
Until Oprah or Obama comes calling, retain your privacy. A faceless blogger is sometimes better I think and only reveal yourself when and only when you have made enough money to either sell off your blog or get people to run it for you. By that time you would be onto other things and please don't become like one nameless blogger who a lot of her followers constantly beg her to post their comments I don't go to that blog anymore Almost a year now because those who comment, build help spreading the word and also help those who helped along the, you know what I mean. Can I shout out to Ladun Liadi and Stella Dimoko here? Now you are on my radar and I enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all... don't reveal your identity.
ReplyDeleteMysterious..... I like! :D

Is more fun n intresting when u keep a low profile......atleast ur readers will be in suspense..........
ReplyDeleteNow this is something thrilling and interesting. However, I would like to go with the commentators above. Dont reveal ur identity for the moment. Keep the suspense flowing! Atlast its upto u 2 decide wt u wana do!
ReplyDeletePlease don't reveal your identity. It adds a certain mystery to your blog, which I already like a lot btw.
