I started this blog with the aim sharing my day to day experiences with the entire world, hoping that there would be some one out there who can relate.
However, I have realized that my experiences, especially about life in the US could be one dimensional, since my views are limited to situations that only I encounter.
So I thought to myself that wouldn't it be awesome if I had periodic features about blog readers who have been through or are going through some of the situations I write about.
If you would like your story to be featured, or if you have any experience at all you want to share kindly send me an email at thatafricanchic@gmail.com. You can decide to remain completely anonymous or you can reveal your identity. I am really looking forward to entries from blog readers especially from different countries. I want to make this blog as interactive as possible and you can help me do that. Lets make this happen!!

DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I've found your blog really interesting- and I'm not much of a commentator.
I have found that I have experienced a lot of the blogger dilemma you spoke about- in my case, I joined in 2008 and simply didn't "get into the spirit"- and then I was off to lawschool.
I only recently (yesterday actually), decided to "dust up" what was my blog and try to edit it- and to actually begin writing on it.
The truth though is, my theme may seem to have too much of "depth" as against fun, vibrant and exuberant- because that is the actual point and experience I've been having for a few years now and I do need an outlet- and writing has always offered that- however, MY dilemma is, who wants to read "poignant" stories depicting deep insecurities, struggles, and wading through the heart of another soul?
Regardless, I've always believed every writer's got a "voice"- soulful, young, sad, exhilarating etc.
That said, I applaud you for taking the step and I'm encouraged and inspired by it- please keep it up.

You know what, one of the reasons that stopped me from writing a while ago was I didn't believe anyone would identify with the stuff I would write about. I kept asking myself if I should write from my heart or rather write on things I felt would be more popular to readers.
DeleteYou know what, 3 days ago, I just got up and started typing away words in my heart, and the result is what you see now. I would advise you to write from deep within your heart because firstly words flow easily when you pour your heart and secondly there will always be someone out there who would resonate with whatever you write about
