Why don't you start your own Business?

Anytime I talk to my friends who are overseas, we all agree on one thing; there a lot of opportunities in Africa. The surprising thing about this fact is that,  most indigenes are not aware of it.
When I was in Ghana, I never  realized this, because I very much concentrated on the problems around.


Living in America has really opened my eyes about the countless opportunities that Africa has, and aside the few challenges one may face, I believe that Africa is really not a bad place to live. One thing I realize about the western countries is that, the societies are operating close to an optimum level. All the ideas and opportunities that you could think of has already been discovered and used to make life better. It is actually very difficult to come up with something new over here, as opposed to Africa which lacks a lot of solutions to its problems.

I have also realized that a lot of foreigners who are aware of this, are really taking advantage of it to make their millions. It is not strange to see other nationals(Indians, Chinese etc) move to Africa to milk all the business opportunities we have,whilst a lot of us just sit down and complain

Over the weeks, I have read a lot about start ups in Africa, from the type of ideas that can do well in Africa, to the real success stories of entrepreneurs who started with nothing but their brilliant ideas. I am in by no means saying its easy to succeed in Africa, rather I believe that its possible so far as you are persistent. Anyone can actually own a profitable business if they want to, you just have to get the right idea and work hard at it.

    Its probably the start-up capital that sees a lot of business ideas never get off the ground. The banks don't want to give u any money,u have to depend on family and friends to raise cash. Then the running cost cos of lack of adequate social amenities and enabling environment..wew! It takes God and a lot of determination and ingenuity to run a business here in nigeria. But yeah,its possible..it can be done.

      Agreed with you anon 16:10. The idea is not the problem, but the 'Africa factor' surrounding it. If one manages to get the starting capital, lack of basic amenities and let-me-chop-this-guy-attitude by employees or relations or friends would say the business crashing!

      A guy relocated to Nigeria with good money to start a fishing business. He invested heavily and passionately, but the cost of running a constant electricity and water, began to take it's toil, and the employees were doing their own shady business by the side. After 2 years, the business collapsed He gathered the little he had left, and relocated back to abroad, with his family.

Many business aspirants do have a brilliant idea but don't have the start-up capital and not aware that there are means available to earn it. It may not be ideal for most of us, but we really need to pull out all the stops if ever you're going to get enough funding to jumpstart your business. Cameron @ ImmediateCapital.com

    The interesting thing about our continent is that there are as many opportunities as there are problems. Most of us spend our time looking for excuses and blaming our governments, history, parents and even God. It's just amazing that we don't see all the gold buried right under our noses. If it's true that it's difficult to do business in Africa, aren't you surprised that foreigners are flocking to our shores in their millions?

    Africa's problems are blessings in disguise. If only we could stop whining and making excuses, you'll be amazed at the opportunities that surround us on this beautiful continent of ours.

    Hey, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues.

    When I look at your blog in Firefox, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping.
